Aldi Spanish Merlot review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

aldi

When you get this Spanish Merlot at the offer price of £3.99 then it’s definitely worth getting. Fruity flavours that need a day’s opening of the bottle to fully come alive, so don’t glugg it all down at once as the excessive sweetness turns to blackcurrant and coffee flavours after a while. You’ll find this wine labelled as ‘Spanish Merlot’ on the Aldi website but the bottle label calls it FYI Merlot (For Your Information Merlot) made by the big Spanish exporter Felix Solis, who makes much of the cheapo Spanish plonk destined for UK supermarkets. It’s the sort of wine that if you bought it abroad would cost 2 Euros and come in a Tetrapak and not a glass bottle. It’s cheap.
