Calvet Prestige Bordeaux Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

co op

Another reliable wine from the Calvet brand. This Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon Bordeaux blend are the same grape varieties that go into the majority of red wines labelled ‘Bordeaux’ but this one is upfront about it. It’s deep blood red colour reveals aromas of very obvious black cherry followed by espresso coffee grounds. There’s more of the same on the taste in a more balanced way with the coffee providing a sharp ending. The flavours are more like an aged wine with the lack of sweet fruitiness making it harder to like but it’s still a nice wine.
